Community Over Competition: Branding Photoshoot with Kymber

“Community over competition” is a phrase often tossed around in the photography world—but when you find someone who truly lives it, it’s something special. Kymber and I met at the Skagit Valley Wedding Show last fall, and right away, I knew she was someone who truly valued connection and community. So when she reached out about swapping headshots and branding photos, I couldn’t say yes fast enough.

One of the things I love most about small business branding photoshoots is how personal and intentional they are. Your brand is so much more than just a logo—it’s your personality, your passion, and the story behind what you do. Whether you’re a photographer, artist, maker, or service provider, having images that reflect who you are and what you offer can help you stand out in a crowded market.

For Kymber’s session (and mine!), we focused on capturing photos that felt real, approachable, and true to each of our brands—because that’s exactly what branding photography should do. Instead of stressing over self-timers or handing off the camera to someone who might not fully understand your vision, we got to collaborate, laugh, and create together. It was the perfect reminder of why community and connection are at the heart of this industry.

Small business branding sessions are all about showcasing your unique vibe and personality. If you’re a small business owner looking to refresh your brand visuals or tell your story in a more authentic way, I’d love to help! Let’s chat about how we can create a session tailored just for you.

P.S. I edited all of these photos using my Hometown Preset Pack! Also, huge shoutout to Kymber for capturing all the photos of me.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog—whether you’re a fellow creative, a small business owner, or just someone who loves a good snow day, I hope this post reminds you of the magic that happens when community comes first. Book A Small Busines Branding Photoshoot With Me
